University of Pennsylvania Material Transfer Agreement
Once an agreement is concluded in RIS, it is entrusted to a negotiator in the relevant university office: for more information on these agreements, please contact ORSMTA@pobox.upenn.edu. A Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) is a contract that governs the transfer of research material between two organizations if the recipient intends to use it for its own research purposes. The MTA defines the rights of the supplier and the recipient with respect to the Materials and all derivatives. For more information, visit the MTA website. The following table explains the different types of agreements processed by RIS. Whenever research material is transferred to or from Penn, a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) must be completed and signed by an authorized Representative of Penn. In addition to the above types of contracts, RIS is also used for the university`s stem cell registry and for the application of recognizable corpses and parts of the human body, both of which are managed outside the Office of Research Services. The Research Inventory System allows you to submit and manage requests for research material transferred to or from Penn: If you are an external party and would like to initiate an MTA application, please contact Penn`s Principal Investigator directly. Penn professors wishing to initiate their MTA must submit a request to the Research Inventory System (PennKey authentication required).
Please click on “Create/Edit Application” under “My MTA/NMA Applications” on the left side of the Search Inventory page to begin submission. The research inventory system allows Penn professors to launch their MTA application. If you are a Penn PI and would like to initiate an MTA, please use RIS. If you are an outside party and would like to initiate an MTA application, please contact your Penn PI and copy ORS under ORSMTA@pobox.upenn.edu. Please send questions or comments about NMA ri_mta_help@lists.upenn.edu/, questions or comments about the Stem Cell Registry to ri_cell_help@lists.upenn.edu, questions or comments about recognizable carcasses/body parts at ri_cadaver_help@lists.upenn.edu and questions or comments about underpricing to subaward@upenn.edu Please do not provide confidential information in your email.
